My 08 JK has the NSG-370 6spd tranny. I read that the 4.7 powertech v8s should mate up to this this trans. Any input?

This is a Mercedes transmission, also used with Chrysler Crossfire. I own a 2000 Dodge Dakota that has the first year 4.7 powertech V8. Other than a cracked waterpump blowing the front cover (which I think was an early problem with the 4.7s fixed in later years), I've been pretty happy with it. Nice motor but I don't see how its gonna work with that Mercedes 6 speed. I think that mates with a PowerTech 6 but not the 8. Or perhaps it begs the question, could I swap that NSG-370 6spd for the 5 speed in my Dakota 4.7L currently?
