If you want to see supercharged, modified cars in Japan, then the one automotive event you shouldnt miss is the Tokyo Auto Salon. Its one of the major trade shows in Japanover 600 types of vehicles are featured. There are new models, auto parts, state-of-the-art accessories, and of course, modified cars. The recently-concluded 2013 Tokyo Auto Salon was held on January 11-13, 2013 at the Makuhari Messe International Exhibition Hall in Chiba. AutoGuide has come up with their list of the Top 10 modified cars showcased during the event. Bringing up the rear is the Honda CR-Z Mugen RZ, a hybrid thats been supercharged and powered by a 1.5-liter, four-cylinder engine, producing an impressive 153 hp. For a sportier handling, it was fitted with five-away adjustable coilovers. The body finish was done in an attractive bright blue. Its reported that Mugen will only be selling 300 units of the car. Up next is a Toyota GT 86 modified by Top Secret, one of Japans high-performance tuning shop and line of tuning products. The Top Secret GT 86 has been installed with a special turbo kit and will soon be used in one of Japans racing tournaments. Its not always new in the auto show; old models sometimes come back completely rebuilt and given shiny new stuff. Such is Fairlady 280Z modified by Star Road. The model is known as the Datsun 240Z in the United States, and Nissan S30 in Japan, its birthplace. Another interesting GT 86 mod was done by Wald. The car was made to look more aggressive with its matte black paint job and hood vents. The vehicle looks like something Batman would drive, if he should favor used cars in Japan. The McLaren MP4-12C convertible in matte orange comes next, and this ones modified by Fab Design. Its eye-catching and the scissor doors are just plain amazing. Another Toyota GT 86 make it to the list, this one its modified by high-performance tuners HKS and a lot of people cant wait to see it on the track. The car features the newest HKS RGIII wheel. Taking a break from the Toyotas, up next is the Nissan GT-R GT3 at number four, modified to be the ultimate track monster. The top three spot is owned by the Robureta Ferrari F40. There were three F40s in Roburetas booth during the Tokyo Auto Salon; their booth was undoubtedly one of the most-visited places during the show. The Ferrari F40 is known as the first street-legal car to break the 200-mph barrier and thus is considered as the worlds greatest supercar. A list of the top modified cars in Japan wouldnt be complete without one of Liberty Walks creationstheir modified Lamborghini Aventador. This unit has been given a brushed stainless steel wrap, matte black accents, lowered stance, and larger wheelshardcore Lamborghini at its best. Taking the top spot is the Toyota Supra-inspired GT 86 modified by Gazoo Racing. At first glance, it doesnt look like a GT 86 at all. Its been fitted with a turbocharger and a supercharger, and is named the GRMN Sports FR Concept Platinum.
