Please Help MY JEEP! 2.5 engine block? I have a 2.5 in line Jeep Wrangler 1990 with a blown engine. Im getting the engine rebuilt but my block is no good. I can't find an exact match to my block at any junkyard. So I hear. other jeeps have the same engine block as mine. I found a 93 Cherokee with what looks to be the same engine. 2.5 except its fuel injected. Mine is a TBI or somthing like that (half carburator). Can I use that block on mine? thats the only thing thats messed up. My engine head is good can I still reuse that and all my other parts? Please help me im really desperate! thankyou!
Well TBI is throttle body injection so it is still fuel injected. The block should be the same. The older 2.5L is a good engine and a 4.0L swap would require welding new engine mounts on your frame. You may consider swapping the newer 2.5L engine as multiport injection tends to get a little better gas mileage and you won't need to rebuild the engine so you'll save money upfront. You could also buy the 93 engine and put your intake manifold on it and drop that in, you may need to change some sensors but you'll have them on your old motor.
